The Annemarie-Schimmel Haus is proud to present the documentary film

 

“GOETHE-THE LOVE OF WISDOM” on 7th September 2010.

 

The documentary sheds light on life and works by the master, explained and interpreted by important scholars such as Mr. Ahmed Javed and Dr. Arifa Syeda and many more.

 

The screening will be at 5.00 pm in the gallery of the Annemarie-Schimmel Haus Lahore and will be followed by a discussion with Dr. Ghazala Irfan, Associate Professor, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, LUMS.

Synopsis:

Maya Kajol is the perfect mother. Her life revolves around her three childerens, Aleya ( Aachal Munjal ), Ankush ( Nominath Ginsberg ), and Anjali ( Diya Sonecha ). Who thinks nothing much then the world of her. Despite being divorced from her husband, Aman ( Arjun Rampal ). Maya has ensured that everything runs smoothly in her house, under her watch, and that they continue to remain a happy family unit. However, when Aman introduces his girlfriend, Shreya ( Kareena Kapoor ) a career oriented woman, who has a lot to learn about children's, to the family, the situation immediately takes an unexpected turn. When an incident changes their lives drastically, bringing the two women under the same roof, they find themselves putting to test an unusual situation; can two mothers make a home?

Synopsis: The movie starts with Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) washed up on a beach. He is injured and seems delirious. He opens his eyes once and sees two kids playing on the beach. Some men with guns (they appear to be guards) take him to an old man, telling the man that Cobb was alone and carried only a pistol and a small brass top. The old man tells Cobb that he recognizes the top, saying, "You remind me of someone... a man I met in a half-remembered dream. He was possessed of some radical notions."

The scene shifts to Cobb, Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Saito (Ken Watanabe) having a quiet dinner in the same room as the previous scene. Cobb is proposing to Saito that he should hire him and Arthur (his business partner) to protect himself from "extraction," which is the process of stealing secrets from a person during a dream, when his or her mind is most vulnerable. Cobb tells Saito that he is the most skilled extractor there is and that he can train Saito's mind to defend itself against other extractors, but Saito will need to let Cobb into his mind completely. He mentions that extractors often steal information from subconscious hiding places, such as a safe, and Saito glances at a safe across the room. Saito seems uncertain and a little suspicious and leaves, saying he will consider the proposal. Cobb and Arthur leave the room and Arthur says Saito suspects something is wrong -- that, rather than trying to protect Saito from extractors, Cobb and Arthur are actually there to perform extraction on him.

When their mission is compromised, Barney and Christmas are forced to flee, leaving Sandra behind to face almost certain death. But Barney isn't the kind of soldier to abandon a mission, or a hostage, and now in order to get the job done he'll need the help of his old crew.

Synopsis: Dabangg (Dabang) movie is set in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Salman Khan plays a character with negative shades in the film. His role is that of a corrupt police officer, named Chulbul Pandey, also known as Robinhood Pandey. The film tries to highlight the flaws and loopholes in the system.

The film will primarily deal with the unlawful practices in the states of UP and Bihar and the involvement of police in it

Synopsis: Anjaana Anjaani is a romantic comedy, where Priyanka (Kiara) is playing a character based in San Francisco, while Ranbir (Prakash) is essaying the role of a New York City boy. They meet in NYC and travel across cities.

Both are trying to find luck in their life after several failed attempts to be successful in their careers and in love.Fed up, they both decide to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. However, both land up on the same bridge at the same time. Ranbir stops Priyanka from jumping and tells her to travel with him to Las Vegas to make it big.

A series of hilarious events accompany them as they go on to fulfill their last wishes only to be stared right there by life, and then they decide that the time spent toegether were just few days of insanity and now they have to get real.

They part as strangers, but will they remain strangers or love will find its way, is to be seen.

NCA (Free passes will be available at the ASH and at NCA) The Annemarie-Schimmel Haus Lahore, in collaboration with “AchtungBerlin”, is presenting a three-day Film Festival, showcasing NEW GERMAN CINEMA.

Synopsis: Voldemort's power is growing stronger. He now has control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione decide to finish Dumbledore's work and find the rest of the Horcruxes to defeat the Dark Lord. But little hope remains for them, so everything they do must go as planned.
