Lahore Chitrkar, studio & gallery is a registered non-profit, non-commercial organization founded in 2001 by a group of painters, writers, dancers and musicians. The primary activity of the Lahore Chitrkar centres around a working studio and gallery where artistic skills are learned shared and exhibited. The painting and drawing portfolio class and Music classes in classical Vocals, Flute, Tabla, Sarangi, are held along with acoustic & electric Guitar, Violin & Keyboard the music classes are held twice a week. Internationally renowned Kathak dancer Nahid Siddiqui conducts a regular Dance class. Lectures and discussions on music making, art workshops for children, monthly classical music concerts and theatre workshops are a permanent feature of chitrkar cultural calendar. 122 events have been organized since the inception of Lahore Chitrkar in 2001. Presently 11 teachers and 47 students are part of the art and music program. Professional audio recordings are done of all concert and events. The Arts are low on the priority list of both the state and development agencies, so funding by the local and concerned is badly needed.
